Doghead Simulations - rumii (Unity 3D)

I spent more than two years at Doghead Simulations, creating our product, rumii. rumii is a Cloud based cross-platform collaborative application created in Unity which has Virtual Reality support. It runs on Windows, OSX, Android, iOS, Open VR, Oculus VR, and Android Standalone HMDs such as the Oculus Go and Oculus Quest. All platforms can easily communicate to one another in real time. I created several major features such as, but not limited to:

  • Virtual Reality Grabbing logic for 3D models

    • Allows for 3D models to be grabbed by a user in VR. The object can then be moved, or scaled if both hands are grabbing the same model​

  • Custom User Interface system which extends Unity's UI system

    • This significantly cut down our design time by nearly 90%

    • Allows for while labeling our product

    • Allows for full customization of rumii's UI

    • Involved intense Unity Editor Scripting

  • Doghead Simulations Content Creation Kit

    • I created our Content Creation Kit which allowed for custom scene and model creation which could then be loaded in rumii by anyone using the software​

    • Involved intense Unity Editor Scripting

  • Improved game logic to increase frame rate by over 600% and cut down CPU cycles by nearly 500%

As Engineering Director, some of my responsibilities included:

  • Creating unique game play features which needed to work in a heavily networked environment and used extremely modular systems

  • Integrating and managing any third-party plugins used throughout development

  • Managing back-end systems such as PlayFab and Amazon S3

  • Quality Assurance on all supported platforms

  • Publishing and managing builds on stores such as Steam, Google Play, and the Oculus Store.

  • Informing other Doghead Simulations employees and rumii users about feature changes, bug fixes, or events
